Chapter 1. Introduction

Hello and welcome to the Sonatype CLM for Bamboo user guide.

Congratulations on starting at the beginning. If you’re reading this you probably like introductions, or maybe you’ve just been trained to read things cover to cover. While that is a noble endeavor, we also realize there are a lot of things you could be spending your time doing, and while reading documentation is at least one option, it may not be the most personally rewarding.

We hope you find our guides are streamlined to get your tools integrated as quickly and easily as possible and to help you understand Sonatype CLM without hours of reading. If you still have trouble, don’t hesitate to contact our support team (support@sonatype.com) or file a request).

What Is Inside the Guide?

We understand that you may have not had a lot of choice in the task you’ve currently been asked to take on. You may not even have heard of Sonatype CLM. If that’s the case, welcome again! We are glad you stopped by. And don’t worry, we’re not offended if you are already a little frustrated. We find a deep breath helps us immensely. It gets better. You are about to add even more value to a tool you use everyday.

So, putting introductions aside (sorry if you wanted to chat more, we wanted to get right to the good stuff), here is what you can expect from the Sonatype CLM for Bamboo guide:

What Is NOT Inside the Guide?

First, we won’t be trying to sell you on the complete awesomeness that is Sonatype CLM. We fully believe you will discover that for yourself during your own demo. In fact, if your enterprise has already purchased Sonatype CLM, congratulations!

No matter your current situation, our goal is to make your current task as painless as possible. Why would we do anything else? That’s rhetorical of course.

You also won’t find any information related to installing Bamboo or on usage and best practices for continuous integration servers, Bamboo or otherwise. There are tons of resources on both these topics. Here are some good places to start:

It’s OK, it’s the guide not you. This just wasn’t the right content at this time. Luckily there are plenty of guides in the… ok, perhaps that metaphor has reached the end of its usefulness.
